Pitkän Jussin majatalo tunnetaan epäkorrekteista vitseistään – sarjan uusi tuleminen on aiheuttanut John Cleesen mukaan vihaa ja kritiikkiä

Legendaarisen John Cleesen tähdittämä Pitkän Jussin majatalo on yksi 1970-luvun epäkorrekteimmista helmistä. Sarjaa tehtiin kuusi osaa vuonna 1975 ja toiset kuusi vuonna 1979.

Cleese paljasti hiljattain kirjoittavansa tyttärensä kanssa jatkoa hauskalle sarjalle, eivätkä aivan kaikki olleet erityisen innoissaan uutisesta.

Esimerkiksi The Guardian -lehden toimittaja Stuart Heritage kirjoitti juttunsa otsikkoon: ”Antiwokepainajainen! Tämän takia Pitkän Jussin majatalon remake on oksettava idea.” Jutussaan hän kertoo, kuinka Cleese on pakkomielteinen cancel-kulttuurin suhteen.

BBC lisäsi myös Pitkän Jussin majatalon jaksojen alkuun vastuulausekkeen, koska sarjan teemat ja huumori ovat vanhentuneita. Jokin aika sitten erään jakson esittäminen brittitelevisiossa kiellettiin, koska Cleesen esittämä hahmo parodioi siinä Hitleriä. Sitten osa on kuitenkin esitetty.

Cleese on antanut kriitikoilleen palautetta brittityylisesti:

– Minun pitää pyytää anteeksi. En osannut aavistaa, että tyttäreni kanssa kirjoittama sitcom voisi aiheuttaa näin paljon vihaa ja huolta. En halunnut aiheuttaa mielipahaa. Ajattelin lapsellisesti, että tämä voisi olla kivaa. Nyt minulla on paha olo, koska olen aiheuttanut näin valtavasti negatiivisia tunteita. Voitteko antaa anteeksi, Cleese kirjoittaa Twitterissä.
